2023 Legislative Breakfasst Adressing Human Trafficking

On Friday February 3rd, 2023, The Global Center on Human Trafficking at Montclair State University, co-sponsored by Family Service League, Covenant House, NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking, and Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, hosted the 2023 Legislative Breakfast entitled “Addressing Human Trafficking in New Jersey: Policy and Practice.” The goals of the breakfast included raising awareness and understanding of the issue of human trafficking and fostering collaboration across New Jersey on the development of legislation and policies to address human trafficking. A panel lead a discussion on the current laws and policies on human trafficking in New Jersey. The panel also explored the impact of laws and policies on the lives of survivors of human trafficking, the gaps in law and policy, and suggestions for future action. First Lady of New Jersey, Tammy Murphy, also gave a speech in support of these efforts.
