SCHOOL PROGRAMS
School Programs
Family Service League provides services to students and staff at area elementary, junior high and high schools. In response to the identified needs of a particular school community Family Service League tailors and provides specific programs to meet the needs of students, staff and families. Our counseling staff offer both workshops and individual counseling on-site in schools in a wide range of school districts, including Bloomfield, Montclair, Orange, Passaic and others. Topics include impulse control, controlling anger, solving peer conflicts, responding to rejection, teasing and bullying, and handling new social situations. The RELATE program focuses on non-verbal behavior and helps children who have difficulties in school to develop communication and social skills. RELATE also teaches children and adolescents how to break negative cycles of thinking and acting that can lead to behavioral problems. Parent and school staff consultation is an integral part of all school-based programs.
